Not so long weekend

I wore a variation of this outfit to an engagement party yesterday but forgot to take photos. So here it is in poor light. Though I did get the boy to take it so no mirror photo.
I have a thing for maxi dresses at the moment. This one was a bargain and is really easy to dress up or down as you please and is also suited to Melbourne's bi-polar weather. Hopefully the rain clears for the cup tomorrow!

Happy Halloween to those lucky enough to reside in countries that embrace it. I always wanted to dress up and trick or treat when I was little, but mum would not allow it.

Study haze

I am still stranded in study land, though I do have some exciting purchases and some exciting events to wear them to coming up in the next week. But that is all in due time. For now I leave you with my current study fuel and something I threw on the other day when I had few plans to leave the house.

Classic cars

The Boy adores old cars and motorbikes and I have an ever growing appreciation for them. So last night we found ourselves at the motorclassica at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne. The building itself is amazing, fill it with beautifully restored cars and we were both in vintage heaven.
We visit many car events throughout the year but this one was a little different. There was less of a hot rod culture and more of a simple appreciation for gorgeous old cars restored to their formal glory. Also, for a change, I felt like one of the more dressed up people at a car event.
Many vehicles were up for auction. Sadly I do not have tens of thousands of dollars lying around to spend on old cars. A girl can dream though..

one day it will be mine

I'll have one of those...

colour coordinated interior anyone?

this was the only real store, which it more than made up for with it's awesomeness

Afterwards we had dinner at a local bar which boasts great interior and atmosphere, yummy fresh food, tasty wine and a wide range of beers and ales. What else do you need?

From Ballarat to study town

Mother Bear and I had a lovely time in Ballarat with my dance team mates. The morning before we departed for home we all ate at the Pancake Parlour. I had strawberry and rhubarb. Yum!

I am now easing my self into study land, with uni exams not far over the horizon. There is no better study fuel than cheesy cheesy toast, lady grey tea, celery and How I Met Your Mother.

Chasing the clouds away

Getting a tantalising taste of summer today, with nothing but blue skies and chirping birds. Perfect roadtrip whether as Mama Bear and I prepare to set off for Ballarat for two nights for a dance competition. I love Ballarat, it has a rich (pardon the pun) gold mining history and gorgeous old buildings.
The lovely whether inspired me to try some outdoor pictures. Nothing fancy, hopefully that will all change with a new camera!
This top and vest got me a "tres bien" from a French man when I was roaming Paris. Needless to day, they now hold a special place in my heart.

Photoshop

A sunny day calls for a sunny blazer. This little gem is going to get a lot of wear this summer, I can feel it in my waters. The boy and I are looking into purchasing a good SLR camera and tripod, so please excuse the crappy mirror shots, hopefully their days are numbered. Any suggestions of good brands would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a little ashamed to admit how much I am struggling with "buy nothing new month". I think it's partly the whole, you always want what you can't have thing. And the fact that I seem to see so many pretty things for a steal and I can't buy them. I may also have a pathological urge to spend money. I did slip up and buy Disneys Robin Hood and The Lion King on DVD, but I think that can be judged as medicinal anyway. Please don't judge me too harshly, I am only human after all.

I threw this on after work for dinner. I bought this portmans top from the local op shop at the start of the week and am a little in love with it.

I'm toying with the idea of chopping all my hair off. Though it's taken a long time to get it to this length, I really feel like a change. I can't seem to make up my mind.

I love it when pieces fall into place and suddenly you have an outfit you adore that has been at your finger tips all along.
I bought this skirt from savers a while ago. It languished in my cupboard for a while, waiting for it's soulmate who I happened to pick up in a local op shop yesterday. Teamed with my ever faithful, goes-with-everything belt it was as though it had foretold by the heavens.
The skirt is a little large, me being habitually lazy two bobby pins sufficed to hold on my admittedly slim frame for the day though I should probably come up with a long term solution. I have a feeling this will be a long term affair.

Sew nifty

I bought this material from spotlight a while back and, in the midst of procrastinating about uni work, I whipped up an apron.
I have been eyeing off some darling aprons in online and physical stores alike. Brightly coloured and beautifully structured with frills and pockets they are enough to make you cry. Alas, my sewing skill are not what you would call fully developed, so I opted for a simpler fashion.
Still, I am as proud as punch with my efforts and am looking forward to uni holidays and having time to bring to life the craft projects on my to do list.
