Vote 1

I entered this photo in a competition recently. It would mean a lot if you could head over here and vote for me to win nearly $5000 worth of camera equipment! Australian voters will have a chance to win as well.

Thank you

Crafty Minx

When the crafty mood hits me I need to act fast to churn it out before inspiration fades. It doesn't help that I despise cutting. However, I managed to make enough of these tags for all my gifts this Christmas season. I adore having my presents wrapped in the most beautiful way possible.

P.S.: I ordered my Christmas dress, you'll have to wait until then to see which one I chose :)

Evening Out

Friday night the boy and I went with his parents to a business event. It was black tie and held at an epically posh golf club in the Yarra Valley. Free drinks and good food in a beautiful setting makes me a happy girl. We stayed the night in the hotel and had an amazing buffet breakfast this morning. The kind of buffet with anything you can imagine, I wish I'd taken photos.

Travel Log

I just finished my first official day of nursing placement. Due to confidentiality I can't really say anything about it except that I LOVED it and am certain I chose the right career. However I am exhausted and slightly incoherent. Thus I leave you with some old photos from my trip to Europe last year. From Prague, Germany and Amsterdam.

Choice Christmas

Tossing up between a few dresses to buy as a present for myself to wear Christmas day(I am a big believer in treating yourself). Any opinions?

Sherry weather

I bought a new lipstick the other day. It's actually the first lipstick I've ever bought with intention of wearing it almost daily, not just for special events or calisthenics competitions. It's from Rimmel and is called 'drop of sherry'. If that's not the most old lady sounding lipstick you have ever heard, please share.

I don't know if I have mentioned that I am a vegetarian before(I do eat fish though, or I get sick). As a result I try to be as conscious as possible about cosmetic and beauty brands that test on animals and avoid leather where ever possible(I tend to cheat by considering second hand leather okay). I am in no way perfect about this, but my general rule of thumb is if it doesn't state it is animal friendly on the packaging, stay away. However Rimmel are friendly people and are nice to our animal friends without boasting about it on their packaging(as are Revlon). PETA has a comprehensive data base of friendly products here.

I am wearing a target top over a mink pink maxi dress. Yay for sunny days interspersed with stormy evenings to keep things interesting.

Hair today, gone tomorrow

So I finally did it. I made peace with my long locks and bid farewell. I am in love with the new do, it's so much lighter and I don't feel overpowered or drowned out by thick, waist length hair. It's slightly concave but still wavy despite the shortness.

You can just see the cute elbow patches on my living doll cardigan, the belt is from hunter gatherer, the dress from retrostar and the shoes from Rivers. I had a great day filled with swimming, op shopping and lazy lunch, yay for uni holidays!

A long, exhausting weekend and a practical exam tomorrow leaves me with little to post about. So here is some etsy goodness to get you in the Christmas mood. Only 41 days to go!

Later, Alligator

Just a few errands to run today, with weather that doesn't know if it's coming or going. I got this Lacoste jumper a while ago from savers. It's quite heavy so I found teaming it with shorts a happy medium. I seem to be unable to keep a straight face. I put it down to the wind.

totelly awesome

I'm on the search for a cool tote for those days when my trusty little bag doesn't cut it. The only trouble is, they're all TOO AWESOME FOR WORDS!

I suppose it's futile. I'll just have to get them all, plus a number of others.

Mr Golden Sun

Another in the string of sunny days we have had lately and another exam crossed off the list for me. Just one tomorrow morning, a practical next week and then my placement to go. I'm looking forward to not having any pre-reading and I already have a list as long as my arm of things I want to get done over the break from uni.
This is the other dress I bought the other day, along with the belt. I can now give my wide elastic belt a well earned rest as this belt is similarly amazing. I'll get some closer pictures soon.

Today's study fuel is banana with pot et strawberry yoghurt. Yummy! I'm probably a little too excited that bananas are affordable again (after prices soared with the flooding earlier in the year). But I do love their yellow goodness.

dark child

So when I was a pre teen I used to read a lot of fantasy books. I was adamant that I had some latent magical powers and considered myself Wiccan for a while (yes, I was quite an odd child). Hence I'd always imagined I'd be a little Goth at some point. This never eventuated but in this dress I feel I'm letting out my darker side. I love the pattern on this scarf as well. Both were purchased on Friday when I took my bestie from Tasmania on a tour of the delights of Melbourne shopping.

It has been sweltering this weekend. Unfortunate as I had to work throughout and knocked off today as rain was about ready to hit. I decided to let my pores have a breather with the hot weather and stuck with just a little eye makeup. The insecure side of me hates the way this shows up in photos.

Max love

I think I am developing a slight addiction to maxi dresses. This one, which arrived yesterday, brings my collection to four. A modest size, but I'm proud of it. This one is crocheted with neutral colours. I took it on it's inaugural outing to my first uni exam, whose saving grace was that it was only multiple choice. Though I do get the feeling I checked 'all of the above' a few too many times.
Again I missed the day light hours, luckily the boy obliged and took some full length photos.

Tomorrow one of my closest friends is visiting from interstate, so I'm taking her on a proper Melbourne shopping spree. I can't wait!

Also, in a fit of boredom on the train home I downloaded the instigram app. If you have it my user name is of course wishiwereaudrey :)

the race that stops the nation

Today marked my first trip to the Melbourne Cup. You must give props to a city that gives a public holiday for a horse race.
The vibe was great and best of all, I picked the winning horse! This was a first for me and meant I could shout my sister dinner.
I found this vintage fascinator at a store years ago but only now managed to style it in a race day outfit. With the gloves on I felt elegant and classy, as though I was channelling the gorgeous Audrey herself!

Photobucket

Photobucket
The pearls are in fact real, passed down as an eighteenth present from my Nanna. I'd bought the dress earlier in the year for my sister's Deb Ball and had been looking for another excuse to wear it. It's from the brand Revival.

Photobucket
I popped the black netting in to tie the fascinator in with the black of the dress.

Photobucket
I threw the blazer on at the last minute as the weather didn't let up until the afternoon.
