Savers Score

Yesterday I headed to Savers, "the recycle superstore" and I could have spent a lot of money. Savers can be a cruel mistress. One day you'll find the racks bare of any quality stock, another day you can hit the motherload but find the prices are way off. Yesterday I found a lot of things I would happily take home, but I really had to be stern with myself. 'If I bought this it would sit in my sewing pile for a year', 'That material really is to worn down', 'I really don't have the space for cute kitchenware'. In the end I came away with just two dresses and a belt.

I couldn't resist the crushed velvet, this a strong contender for my fashionopolis outfit.

I need a bit more studdage (yes I made that up) in my life.

In real life this is a navy blue, I love a classic gold buckle.

150th Post Give Away! (closed)

Welcome, one and all, to my 150th post. It's not a big deal, but a huge one at the same time. Blogging is really exciting for me at the moment. I now have an amazing design with buttons and everything thanks to Kaelah, I'm attending my first blogging conference in just two weeks and I'm getting a lot of views (compared to when I first started blogging at least).

And so to celebrate these milestones and tick off another box on my blogging goals list I am having my first ever giveaway. There were no sponsors involved, this is just a gift from me to my readers. The other day after uni I popped into a favourite store of mine and picked up a couple of sweet things I'd buy for myself (and probably will go back and do so) which I hope you'll like too.

School Chills

Why do websites insist on change? First facebook, then blogger and now photobucket have changed their editing page. Did no one tell them I like my consistency?

Finally it's chilly enough again for layers and soup. Oh and berets. I adore berets. In all this has a bit of a school girl feel which sits perfectly well with me.

Wet weather

Finally we have some chilly weather and I have the day off to snuggle down and do some homework. And a perfect opportunity to practice my indoor photography seeing as it hasn't stopped raining all day. 

I could nearly get away with wearing this jumper as a dress, but I threw on some shorts for modesties sake. I also adore scarves but struggle to style them. This one is massive so I settled for a bandana to save my hair from the rain.

Out of the bag

I've been working evenings over the weekend, which I don't find conducive to blogging. I'm so tired I sleep in, then I don't have the motivation to put on anything more exciting than tights and a jumper. Though the weekend is nearly over, and I'm quite proud of myself for getting a big chunk of uni assignments done. Just two weeks now until mine and Reece's weekend escape!

So any hoot, I though I'd have a go at a 'what do I lug around in my bag' post. I always find them interesting on other blogs.

My bag is nothing special, a nice middle-market range. The scarf is one I found at an op shop. I'm very weary of bags as I seem to break them often, usually because I lug around lots of uni gear.

Residing inside we have:

- My Frankie diary

- Fruity mints

- Muesli bar (left over from uni)

- Lip balm and lip stick

- Mirror

- Reading glasses and sun glasses

- Forever new purse 

- Iphone and head phones

I also use this bag for uni so you'll often find pens, highlighters, notebooks, my laptop and a book to read on the train.

A few things..

So as you've hopefully noticed, the gorgeous Kaelah has redesigned the blog for me! I am chronically html illiterate and she managed to take my extremely vague ideas and turn them into a beautiful but simple design. If you have any design needs get in quick, this girl has talent and is such a pleasure to work with.

I seem to be killing this internet business at the moment because I finally got the hang of pinterest. I was confused at first, but now I find it a really handy way to collect and store inspiration. Have a look or if you're not on yet I have a few invites.

Also, 0ther 90's kids are sure to remember Mara Wilson, the sweet little girl from Matilda and Mrs Doubtfire? Well she's not so little anymore and now writes an awesome blog. Check it out and you won't be disappointed.

And finally, here are the other purchases I made yesterday at the op shop.

I don't have a record player but I think I'm going to start collecting records, so cheap.

A mug fit for tea. It's about as big as my head, and I have a big head. Just ask my mum.

An Italian-esque scarf, I like scarves.

All up, a measly $10 including the shoes. Not a bad days work.

Hot Pink is Hot

Typical me to get into the swing of colour blocking as it fades out. Though it's not like I really adhere to what's "trending"(such a horrible word) anyway. I really do like this blouse, it feels so bright and cheery. And it doesn't seem to need much in the way of accessories, which is handy for me as my accessories collection leaves a lot to be desired.

Titanic

I wore this to see Titanic with my sister. The emotions of seeing it on the big screen in all it's glory was a little overwhelming.

I think it's official that I'm not one of those night owls that does their best writing at two in the morning (that started out as righting?!), it's 12.30am and I can't seem to come up with one intelligent thing to say. Must be time for bed.

Casual Monday

As casual as it gets today. With just study, laundry and a bit of exercise on the agenda even make up didn't seem necessary.

Top notch

Today was an all around top notch day. Reece had the day off so we headed off to get his hair cut, had some morning tea and bought a new(to us) couch. $35 and comfy as all hell. The sun was out, which I guess I can tolerate and I stomped around in inappropriately high but extremely comfortable shoes. Oh and I bought an awesome bike necklace, I have decided I am seriously lacking in the accessory department and this must be remedied.

Come out cold

Yesterday was drizzly, cold and a little miserable. I loved it. I wore tights and cooked soup for dinner. It was amazing. Unfortunately this morning I woke to rays of sun poking through the blinds Reece recently installed. Shattering. It's not that I hate nice weather. I'm just well and truly ready for Autumn and cold and layers and extra blankets.

I'm enjoying the mid semester break from uni, though I'm still working through assignments and readings and starting exam study. This dress will always be a favourite, though I tried to mix it up with an interesting belt and some colour.

Oh and I just bought my ticket to Fashionopolis! Who else will be there? I have a feeling I will be so overcome with seeing all those amazing fashion bloggers in one place I won't be able to take in any of the talks.

New jeans

I've been meaning to buy a new pair of jeans for a while. I know there are vintage ones out there but denim racks at op shops over whelm me and it seems I can never look past the flares to find the gems. 

In the end I bought this pair from the Levi's store at Chadstone for 25% off. I would have preferred a higher waist, but in all I'm really happy with them. I'm not planning on wearing them all them time, but almost all the tops and blouses I own merit a high waist, and sometimes skirts and stockings just don't seem appealing.

Shorts and Ink

Last night Reece and I headed out for dinner at one of the local pubs, they had a lot of sea food specials on being Good Friday - yay for the vegaquarian! I got Reece to take my photos because setting up the tripod seemed like too much effort. Possibly a mistake as Reece doesn't take direction well, I had to delete a number of unflattering close ups of my face.

I broke out these shorts I bought from a local boutique along with this nautical-ish belt. I really am a little in love. They make my legs seem so long - no mean feat for stumpy little me - and the high waist makes me soo happy.

Oh, and the new tattoo. I've been ruminating for a long while about it. If you haven't clued in, it's a line from the Sorting Hat song in the first Harry Potter book, 'Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind. Where those of wit and learning, will always find their kind.' I have mentioned my love of Harry Potter before and I've always felt an affinity for Ravenclaw house, I'm not brave or honourable enough for Griffindor. It is also a nod to my book smarts. I'm by no means a genius, but I do pirde myself on having a slightly above average level of intelligence. I got it done at Purple Haze Tattooz, by Becky, a far cry from the little place in Amsterdam where I got my first one.
